TWO DAYS AND ONE WHITE NIGHT IN FAIRY KARELIA

Day 1

Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Transfer from the railway station to the “Severnaya” or “Karelia” hotels.
Accommodation (double rooms). Breakfast.
City tour of Petrozavodsk. Architectural ensemble of Round Square-XVIII century, Governor’s garden, Theatre square (4 theatres), Onega Lake embankment, Monument to Peter the Great.
Visit to the national - art crafts shop “Karelian masters”. Master - class with Karelian masters.
On a choice: weaving, woodcarving, a list on a tree, drawing.
Possibility to buy souvenirs very cheaply (pictures, embroidery, weaving, ceramics, wooden and stone souvenirs).
Departure by hydrofoil to Kizhi island – treasure of Russian North. Excursion to the museum of wooden architecture.
Return to Petrozavodsk.
Dinner at the restaurant “Severniy” with national Karelian cuisine.
Video-show of the most beautiful Karelian places of interest – Kizhi, Valaam, Solovki, nature.
Folklore concert (national songs and traditional Karelian dances, possibility to take part in the Karelian games).
Free time to take a walk about the city and enjoy white nights.


Karelian monastery
Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel, departure to the out-of-town excursion “Charm of Karelia”.
Acquaintance with the history of the 1st Russian mineral water spa resort (53 km) “Martsialnyje Vody”.
Tasting of mineral water from three springs. Visit of St.Peter’s Church (1721).
Lunch in the city of “Karelian millionaires” – Kondopoga. City tour including a visit of The Ice Palace and Culture Palace, Church of the Assumption – a monument of wooden architecture (XIII century).
Visit to the second largest flat land waterfall in Europe - Kivatch; visit dendropark and the reservation of Karelian birch.
Return to Petrozavodsk;
Dinner in the city restaurant (national Karelian cuisine) including costumerized tasting of alcoholic drinks with
Peter the Great (Vodka “Karelia”, “Petrovskaya”, “Onezhskaya cranberry”, “Karelian balsam”), a folklore program.
Free time (optional).
Water-Sport Center “Aquatica”(swimming pool, finish sauna, Turkish bath, jakuzzi, water disco, swimming pool for kids with tube, cafe-bar, solarium, equipment for physical training.
Karelian Health and Relaxation Center (2 saunas, White seaweeds or Gabozero muds, shungite vein tea with cowberry and Karelian honey).
Transfer to the railway station. Departure.



Nature
 
KALEVALA + SOLOVETSKY ISLANDS
5 days/4 nights
Day 1
Arrival at Kem from Moscow or St. Petersburg.
Transfer from the railway station to Kalevala (180 km).
Accommodation in the hotel. Breakfast.
Excursion to Kalevala (about 3 hours). In the homeland of epos “Kalevala” you will visit Ethnographic museum, the cape of Rune singers, the Holy grove. You will also see the pine of Lennrot, an old Karelian house of 200 years, different types of churches. Dinner in the hotel. Free time.
Finnish or Russian sauna, boat trips, fishing (optional).



Monastery

Day 2
Breakfast at the hotel.
Bus tour to waterfall “Kumo-porog” (90 km one way). A few stops on the way to the waterfall: World War II front-line, village Voinitsa (fresh milk, souvenirs).
Picnic by the waterfall side with “forest tea”. Opportunity to pick up mushrooms and berries, fishing. Departure to Kalevala.
Dinner. Free time.


Day 3
Breakfast at the hotel.
Full day motor boat trip round Middle Kuitto Lake (optional).
Full day bike and canoe trip (optional).
Dinner at the hotel.
Free time. Finnish or Russian sauna (optional).

Day 4
Early breakfast.
Transfer to Kem (packed food is provided). Transfer to Kem’s sea port. Departure by a hydrofoil to the Solovki Islands. A whole day excursion about the Solovetsky Monastery with its dry dock, the numerous hermitages in different parts of the Island, stone labyrinths of prehistoric times. Lunch on the island.
Departure to Kem from the island.
Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
Dinner. Free time.

Day 5
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to the railway station. Departure by rail to Moscow.
Participate in the whale safari, fishing tours and see many other interesting and unique parts of the archipelago if you spend some days on the island.
 
Tour Moscow – N.Novgorod – Diveevo – Moscow
3 days/2 nights



Day 1



Arrival in Nizhniy Novgorod. Transfer to Diveevo.
Excursion to Saint Trinity Cathedral in Diveevo.
Accommodation in GK “Diveevskaya Sloboda”. Lunch at cafe “Razdolye”.
Excursion to Saint Springs.
Time at leisure. Dinner at restaurant “Malinovyi zvon”.
Diveevo monastery
Day 2 Breakfast at cafe “Razdolye”.
Excursion to village Polh-Maidan (master class to make Polh-Maidan’s matreshka (nested doll) and village Voznesenskoe (incl. visit Museum of Matreshka) or excursion to Sanaksar Monastery of Birth of Virgin.
Lunch at cafe “Razdolye”. Time at leisure.
Dinner and folk show at restaurant “Malinovyi zvon”.


Diveevo beauties
Day 3 Breakfast at cafe “Razdolye”.
Departure from GK “Diveevskaya Sloboda”. Transfer to Nizhniy Novgorod.
City sightseeing tour.
Lunch at a city restaurant.
Walking tour along Bolshaya Pokrovskya street. Excellent shopping opportunities in an open-air market (souvenirs).
Time at leisure.
Transfer to the railway station.
Departure.
 
The Northern Ring
5 days/4 nights





Day 1
Arrival at St. Petersburg.
Accommodation in the hotel.
Breakfast.
City tour of SPb (St. Isaac's Cathedral, the Fortress of Peter and Paul, the Admiralty, The Summer Garden).
Boat trip along Neva river and canals.
Lunch at a city restaurant.
Hydrofoil trip to Petergof (Petrodvorets), the Imperial Summer Residence on the Gulf of Finland.
Returning back to the city.
Dinner.
 




Day 2
Breakfast.
Transfer to Novgorod.
City tour (Novgorod Kremlin, St.Sophia Cathedral of the XI century, Yaroslav’s Yard and market, the architectural center of the city) with lunch.
Excursion to the museumof wooden adchitecture “Vitoslavitsy” (Chapels, churches of the XVI–XVIII centuries, peasant’s cabins and outbuildings built by skilful Russian carpenters without a single nail).
Accomodation in hotel, dinner.

Breakfast.
Transfer to Pushkin (Tsarskoe selo), the former summer residence of the Imperial family.
